Wharfside Masterplan to face public scrutiny

Manchester United’s ambitions for a new stadium are core to plans to develop the area reaching from the waterfront down to the edge of Gorse Hill and over to Watersmeet.

Following approval at Monday’s meeting of its Executive Committee, the masterplan is to be put to an 8 week consultation period commencing Tuesday 28th July.

This will give the public a chance to judge and input on:

  • whether the plans provide sufficient transport connections
  • whether the plans are sufficiently prescriptive in defining the spectacular waterfront the Media City/Quays area demands
  • how the area will work as a neighbourhood with schools, shops and health provision
  • Et cetera

Meetings are scheduled:

Wednesday 29 July 2026, 4pm to 7pm
Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford M32 0TH

Wednesday 9 September 2026, 4pm to 7pm
Gorse Hill Studios, Cavendish Road, Stretford, Manchester M32 0PS

Tuesday 15 September 2026, 4pm to 7pm
Stretford Metros Sports and Social Club, Moss Road, Stretford M32 0AH

There will be an online portal open from the 28th July 2026
